About Caribou Curling Club
Caribou Curling Club: A Historic Landmark in Stephenville
Located at 375 Massachusetts Drive in Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Caribou Curling Club offers a rich history and exceptional playing conditions. The building was originally constructed as a bowling alley during WWII by the United States Air Force as part of the Ernest Harmon Air Force Base recreation facilities. It was later repurposed into the Caribou Curling Club, serving as a social and athletic escape for military personnel and local civilians alike.
Today, the club features four sheets of meticulously maintained ice and is a major hub under the Newfoundland & Labrador Curling Association, regularly hosting provincial Masters and Club Championships. With a popular junior curling program, active social leagues, and a fully licensed upstairs viewing lounge that offers year-round catering for banquets, weddings, and parties, the club continues to be a central pillar of Stephenville’s community spirit.
