Club de curling Port-Alfred: Where Industrial Legacy Meets Winter Sport
Established in 1958 by J.B. Sweney, manager of the local Consolidated Paper Corporation, the Club de curling Port-Alfred on 4e Rue in La Baie, Quebec, has a rich and colorful history. Originally built as an annex to the local golf club to keep workers active during the winter, the club was officially ceded to the Ville de La Baie in 1992 and separated into its own independent administration in 1998.
The club operates a high-quality four-sheet rink, heavily modernized in 2015 with brand-new refrigeration systems. Port-Alfred is famous as the proud host of the prestigious Cashpiel du Fjord, drawing elite competitive teams from across the province. They also offer beginner-friendly Sunday practice sessions, welcoming new players to experience this classic sport.
