About Burns Lake Curling Club
Burns Lake Curling Club: A Legacy of Prairie Spark and Grit
The Burns Lake Curling Club, located on Flogum Street immediately adjacent to the local Spirit Square, is celebrating over seven decades of community winter sports. Founded in October 1951 by an influx of prairie workers who arrived in BC to work on local sawmills and industrial projects, the club raised $1,500 to construct their first covered two-sheet rink.
Today, the club operates four modern sheets of ice hooked up to the adjacent Tom Forsyth Memorial Arena’s ice plant, ensuring highly consistent playing conditions. The fully handicapped-accessible facility features closed-circuit TV monitors, an active youth instructional division, seniors’ curling, and a beautiful licensed lounge perfect for post-match debriefs.
