The event and what is at stake

The Junior Mixed Doubles National Championship is USA Curling’s title event for players under 21 in the mixed doubles format, with one woman and one man on each team. The 2027 edition is the third. The winners will determine the United States representatives at the 2027 World Junior Mixed Doubles Championship. The tournament is set for March 4 to 7 at the Cape Cod Curling Club. Prize money has not been published. The dates and location of the 2027 World Junior Mixed Doubles Championship will be announced separately.

Format and field

The championship features 12 teams, competing in two pools of six. The four semi-finalists from 2026 are in the field, and the other berths are earned at qualifying bonspiels. The top four at the CK Cup, hosted each year by Olympic silver medallists Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin, advance, as do the top four from the Seattle Granite Junior Mixed Doubles bonspiel. The Seattle qualifier is scheduled for January 16-18, 2027, at the Granite Club of Seattle.

The defending champions are Ella Wendling and Benji Paral. They beat Jersey Hollands and Connor Grabow 8-7 in the 2026 final. In the inaugural 2025 event in Duluth, Heidi Holt and Zachary Brenden took the title. The full 2027 lineup is not yet known, because the qualifying events have not been played. Teams will be confirmed after the qualifiers.

Host city and venue

The Cape Cod Curling Club stands at 37 Highfield Drive in Falmouth, Massachusetts. It is a not-for-profit, three-sheet club founded in 1969. The members moved into the current building in March 1975. A capacity figure for spectators has not been published.

The club hosted this championship for the first time in 2026, and the 2027 event is a return visit. USA Curling praised the hospitality and the experience delivered by the club’s members. The club is also known for its July SummerSpiel. It has hosted that event for more than 50 years. Competitors have travelled from as far as California, Utah, Arizona and Canada.

For fans travelling in, the facility is fully accessible and about a 15-minute walk from downtown Falmouth. That puts the town’s restaurants and shops close to the ice.

Ticketing details for 2027 have not been announced. Spectators were welcome at the 2026 edition. Information on admission and any packages will be released closer to the March dates.
