Mid-South Curling Club: Bringing Curling to the Memphis Area

Mid-South Curling Club brings curling to the Memphis metropolitan area, playing on arena ice at the Mid-South Ice House in Olive Branch, Mississippi, just across the state line from Memphis. Curling arrived at the Olive Branch rink in April 2012, when the first learn-to-curl sessions were held there, and the sport quickly found a following among doctors, engineers, musicians, students and other newcomers from around the region.

Learn-to-curl events have been the club’s engine of growth, with early sessions regularly selling out and a fresh wave of interest after the U.S. men’s Olympic gold in 2018. That year the club counted about 40 members in a recreational Thursday-night league, and at its peak the local curling community supported as many as ten league teams. The club has continued to teach the game, running an introductory session for about 30 newcomers at the Mid-South Ice House in March 2025.
