Campbell County Curling Club: Curling in Gillette’s Spirit Hall Arena

Campbell County Curling Club is the curling community of Gillette, the energy capital in northeastern Wyoming. Curlers play on three sheets of arena ice at Spirit Hall Ice Arena, the 26,000-square-foot rink at the CAM-PLEX Wyoming Center built in 2009, where the program runs in partnership with Campbell County Parks and Recreation.

The heart of the season is the Wednesday-night adult league, with up to 12 teams playing ten games followed by a double-elimination tournament; league play starts in January. Open curling on Sunday afternoons from November gives newcomers and casual groups an inexpensive way to try the sport, with up to eight players per sheet.

Gillette also earned a place in national curling history when USA Curling chose Spirit Hall as host of the 2020 Arena National Championships, the first USA Curling national championship awarded to Wyoming. The selection committee singled out the arena’s elevated spectator seating and the commitment of the local staff to the sport.
