The Annual City View BBQ Spiel returns January 22–23, 2027, with an exciting new competitive format!
Participants will be divided into two large squads: Fire and Ice. Games across all divisions will earn points toward the overall squad championship. The squad with the most points at the end of the spiel will be crowned champion.
Two Squads. Three Formats. Four Divisions.
Register in one of four divisions:
Women’s Scotch Doubles — two-player teams
Open Scotch Doubles — two-player teams of any gender combination
Open Triples — three-player teams of any gender combination
Open Quad Skins — four-player teams of any gender combination
Every participant is guaranteed three 6-end games. The number and combination of games played in each format will depend on final registration numbers and scheduling.
Format Rules
Scotch Doubles: Each team has two players. Each player delivers three stones per end, and the players switch positions after every end. No sweeping is allowed before the stone reaches the far hog line.
Triples: Open to teams of any gender combination. Each team has three players, and each player delivers two stones per end. Players rotate positions every two ends. Only one sweeper is allowed between the hog lines.
Quad Skins: Open to teams of any gender combination. Each team has four players, with each player delivering two stones per end. Instead of simply counting the total points scored, teams compete to win the “skin” for each end.
A team with hammer must score at least two points to win that end’s skin.
A team without hammer wins the skin by stealing at least one point.
If the team with hammer scores only one point, or the end is blanked, the skin carries forward. Its value is added to the next end’s skin.
The team that wins a skin collects all the skin points carried forward.
If skin points remain after the sixth end, one player from each team will draw to the button. The closest stone wins the remaining points.
Results from games in all divisions contribute to the Fire and Ice squad standings. Additional details about squad scoring and the draw schedule will be shared with registered teams.
