The Canadian Under-18 Curling Championships crown national male and female youth champions. The event began in 2017. It has served as a springboard for some of Canada’s top curlers. Olympic gold medallist Tyler Tardi is among the alumni who medalled at the U-18s. Curling Canada’s CEO Nolan Thiessen calls it, for many young curlers, their first Canadian championship and a defining step in the Youth Competitive Pathway.
The 2027 edition runs April 18–24 in Okotoks, Alberta. It will be the first national curling championship hosted in Okotoks. A prize purse and any international berth tied to the title have not been published. Any such details will be added once announced.
Forty-two teams take part. That means 21 male and 21 female rinks. Each of Curling Canada’s 14 member associations (10 provinces, three territories and Northern Ontario) is invited to send its male and female U-18 champions. Host Curling Alberta earns a second invitation. So do the six highest-ranked associations, based on the previous two championships and excluding the host.
The 2027 schedule has not been announced. The recent Timmins event gives a guide: teams were split into three pools of seven, and the top four from each pool reached the playoffs.
The final field is not yet set. Provincial and territorial champions are still to be decided. Defending champions from 2026 in Timmins:
All-time, Nova Scotia leads the male side with two titles. On the female side, Alberta, Nova Scotia and Northern Ontario share the lead. Confirmed 2027 rosters will be added once provinces name their teams.
Games are played at Murray Arena and the Okotoks Curling Club, both inside the Okotoks Recreation Centre at 99 Okotoks Drive. Murray Arena has an NHL-sized ice pad and seats 1,000. The curling club was built in 1983 and has more than 650 members, six sheets and a strong junior program.
The building already has major curling credentials. It hosted Curling Alberta’s men’s and women’s provincial championships in January 2026. It also stages the ATB Okotoks Classic, which in 2024 drew 24 teams competing for a $50,000 purse. The Autumn Gold Curling Classic returns for a second year from Oct. 10–13.
For travelling fans, Okotoks sits in Alberta’s Foothills region, in the province where the event was last held in 2019, at Sherwood Park. A late-April visit means spring weather, so pack for variable conditions.
Ticket sales, any multi-day packages and pricing have not been announced. Details will be added when the organisers release them.
