The event and what is at stake

The Club National Championships crown the best club-based men’s and women’s teams in the United States. USA Curling describes the event as a region-based championship in which teams reach the final field through a regional playdown process. Bemidji will host the 2027 edition from March 23 to 27, 2027. No prize money, and no berth at a world championship or the Olympics, has been published for this event. In 2026 the event also carried Regions Cup points. Whether that applies in 2027 has not been announced.

Format and field

The 2026 championship, the most recent one, used 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams. Teams qualify through playdowns run by USA Curling’s recognised regional associations. The region with the most playdown entries gets additional berths, and the host club receives a place in both the men’s and women’s fields. In 2026 the teams were split into two pools of six. The top three in each pool advanced to the playoffs, and the pool winners received a bye into the semi-finals. The 2027 field and format details will be announced as the season goes on, and no 2027 teams are confirmed yet.

  • Defending women’s champions: Nina Roth’s Madison Curling Club team (Lynn Brown, Shalon Holbeck, Callie Maursetter, Angela Montgomery). They beat the Berg team from Bemidji 8-2 in the 2026 final.
  • Defending men’s champions: Brad Caldwell’s team (Patrick Young, Erik Quistgaard, Chase Ebeling), who won on home ice at the Chaska Curling Center. They beat the Coyotes Curling Club 6-3 in the final.

Host city and venue

Games will be played at the Bemidji Curling Club, 1230 23rd Street NW. The club was founded in 1935 and has six sheets of dedicated curling ice. It sits next to the city’s skating rink in a park complex. A seating capacity has not been published.

Bemidji has strong credentials as a host. Its rinks represented the United States at the 2005 World Championships and the 2006 Olympics in Turin. Pete Fenson’s men’s team won the first Olympic curling medal in US history, a bronze. The club hosted the 2020 Mixed Doubles Nationals and the 2026 edition, which had 16 teams. USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell said Bemidji is known for its elite curlers but is also a vital part of its community. Travelling fans will find a town in northern Minnesota where curling is part of everyday life. The club is open to the public, and spectators are welcome to watch matches there.

Tickets

Ticket details for the 2027 Club Nationals have not been announced. That covers sales dates, daily passes and any packages. USA Curling has opened ticket sales for its separate 2027 Men’s & Women’s Nationals in West Des Moines, Iowa, but Bemidji has no equivalent announcement yet. Information will be added here once it is published.
