The second season of Rock League, the franchise-based professional curling league run by The Curling Group, reaches its fourth and final regular-season weekend at Servus Arena in Red Deer, Alberta, from April 8 to 11, 2027. After stops in Moose Jaw, Utica and Ottawa in January and February, the league takes a two-month break before Red Deer, and the weekend serves as the last chance for teams to move up the standings before the playoffs in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on April 15 to 18.
Red Deer was added to the schedule when the league moved a planned January weekend out of Halifax, a change The Curling Group said would better fit athletes’ commitments through the season and create a more sustainable calendar. The playoffs were trimmed at the same time from an 11-day format to four days.
Rock League is built around six franchises, each made up of five men and five women drawn from the world’s top players and grouped by region, with two Canadian clubs, two European clubs and teams representing the United States and the Asia-Pacific region. In the inaugural season, matches combined men’s, women’s and mixed doubles games played at the same time, with a point for winning a match and a bonus half-point for a clean sweep of all three games, alongside mixed fours draws.
The first season, played in Toronto in April 2026, featured Shield, Typhoon, Alpine, Northern United, Maple United and Frontier. Shield Curling Club, captained by Brad Jacobs, are the defending champions after beating Typhoon two games to one in the final, sealed by Benoît Schwarz-van Berkel’s draw to the button in mixed doubles. Season 2 rosters will be confirmed by the league.
The league was founded by a group that includes curling champions Jennifer Jones and John Morris and former NFL players Jared Allen and Marc Bulger.
Servus Arena is a downtown Red Deer ice facility opened in 2018, with an NHL-size rink, room-temperature seating for around 1,360 spectators, and the Pidherney Curling Centre next door. The building is already familiar to the tour’s stars: it hosted the Grand Slam of Curling’s Canadian Open in January 2024, when Bruce Mouat and Rachel Homan took the titles. The intimate setting puts fans close to the ice, and Red Deer’s location in central Alberta makes it an easy trip from both Calgary and Edmonton.
Ticket details for the Red Deer weekend have not yet been announced. Sales information will be released by The Curling Group ahead of the event.
