About Granite Curling Club in Saskatoon
A Tribute to Saskatoon’s Historic Granite Curling Club
Though the Granite Curling Club in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, permanently closed its physical doors and sold the property in the fall of 2022 due to rising brine leak repair costs, its incredible 93-year history remains a legendary chapter in CURLSASK sports heritage. Founded on October 1, 1929, in the City Park neighborhood, this historic club was the downtown heartbeat of local sportsmanship and family-first athletic mentorship.
The club was globally famous for its unique arch-beamed nine-sheet ice arena, producing numerous provincial Brier and national champions. Beyond world-class ice, the club held a special place in the hearts of locals for the family-run Granite Kitchen, renowned across the city for serving ‘Saskatoon’s best wonton soup.’ While the sheets have transitioned to a pickleball venue, the spirit of camaraderie, competitive drive, and warm hospitality that defined the Granite will never be forgotten.
