Invermere District Curling Centre: Over a Century of Valley Pride

With a rich athletic history tracing back to 1900 when early matches were played on natural ice in Athalmer, the Invermere District Curling Centre has been the heartbeat of Columbia Valley sports for generations. Operating out of its current four-sheet, member-owned facility at 509 13th Street since 1957, the club is run primarily by dedicated volunteers who keep seasonal dues highly affordable.

The club is highly celebrated as the proud sponsor and organizer of the famous ‘Bonspiel on the Lake’—a massive, historically unique outdoor tournament held on the frozen waters of Lake Windermere every January since 1982. Off the ice, the facility features a fully licensed second-floor bar and viewing lounge. In the spring and summer off-season, the concrete ice pad is converted to host indoor courts for the Invermere Pickleball Club, making it a valuable year-round wellness asset.
