Biggar Curling Club: Honoring a Legendary Curling Heritage
Located at 401 1st Avenue East, immediately adjacent to the Biggar Jubilee Stadium, the Biggar Curling Club has a legendary place in Canadian sports history. Constructed in 1961, this historic club is celebrated as the home club of Sandra Schmirler, who led Canada to its first-ever Olympic gold medal in women’s curling at the 1998 Nagano Winter Games.
The facility features a four-sheet artificial ice surface, a concession area, and a fully licensed viewing lounge. Despite facing challenges, the club remains an iconic symbol of athletic pride in Saskatchewan, welcoming generations of local families to experience the sport in a warm, historically rich environment.
