About Castor Curling Club
Castor Curling Club: Community Resilience and Small-Town Pride
Situated in the welcoming town of Castor, Alberta, the Castor Curling Club has served as a vital winter fitness and social anchor for the local rural community since its founding in 1964. Operating a three-sheet curling rink, the club typically runs active men’s, mixed, and junior leagues that bring together around 100 passionate local curlers of all ages.
Following a catastrophic ice plant and chiller failure during the 2025/2026 season, the club launched a major community-wide fundraising campaign in 2026. Through comedy nights, public dances, and grants, the club’s board and dedicated volunteers are raising $200,000 to replace their historic 1964 equipment and secure the rink’s future. Castor Curling Club stands as a true monument to Alberta’s grassroots sportsmanship and volunteer grit.
