About Ellerslie Curling Club

Ellerslie Curling Club: From the ‘Straw Palace’ to Six-Sheet Excellence

Tucked behind trees at 530 71 Street SW in Edmonton, Alberta, the Ellerslie Curling Club has been a beloved family-oriented sports facility since 1962. The club’s historic journey began with a rustic two-sheet rink constructed out of straw bales, famously known as the ‘Straw Palace’. In 1995, dedicated volunteers constructed the current modern building.

Today, the club boasts a world-class six-sheet artificial ice arena, a spacious lobby, and a comfortable upstairs viewing lounge with a 400-square-foot dance floor. Catering to around 700 active members, Ellerslie offers diverse leagues for men, women, mixed, senior, junior, and stick curling. In the off-season, the dry arena floor serves as a major community hall hosting weddings and corporate events.
