About Curling Club of Houston
Curling Club of Houston: Gulf Coast Curling Since 1973
The Curling Club of Houston has been the city’s home for curling since 1973. It is an arena club, renting ice at Bellerive Ice Center in the Sharpstown area of southwest Houston, where the hockey surface is marked out for curling.
About 60 members curl with the club, ranging in age from 10 to 76 and drawn from all over: Canadian transplants, a Norwegian, and Texans and newcomers from across the country. League play runs on Friday nights and Sunday mornings, with a beginners’ league and a spare league to bring new curlers along, and games end in the traditional broomstacking social.
The club also sends teams to national competition, and its men’s team won the 2017 arena club national championship. The annual Houston Bonspiel brings visiting teams to the Gulf Coast, and the members’ long-term goal is a dedicated curling facility of their own.
