About Klamath Curling Club
Klamath Curling Club: Sunday Stones at the Bill Collier Ice Arena
Klamath Curling Club keeps curling alive in southern Oregon, where Klamath Falls is one of the few places in the region the sport is played at all. The club is part of Klamath Ice Sports, the nonprofit behind the Bill Collier Ice Arena at the Running Y, and plays on arena ice shared with skaters and hockey players. It is a member of the Mountain Pacific Curling Association.
Curling here is centered on open Sunday sessions, where coaches such as Ryan Dean teach the basics: delivering a 42-pound granite stone with the traditional sliding lunge, sweeping to carry a stone up to ten feet farther, and the bocce-like goal of finishing closest to the button. Stick curling is offered for players who prefer not to slide. No experience is needed, equipment is provided, and sessions are open to anyone 12 and older.
