About Lake Region Curling Club
Lake Region Curling Club: Devils Lake’s Home for Junior Champions
Lake Region Curling Club is the curling home of Devils Lake, the lake-country city in northeastern North Dakota, a state where curling has been part of winter life since the Dacotah Curling Club was founded in Drayton in 1901. The club curls on 7th Street SE.
Devils Lake has punched above its weight on the national stage. In January 2015 the city hosted the USA Curling Junior National Championships, with the winners going on to the World Junior Championships in Estonia. Local juniors Adam and Alex Kitchens and Brandon and Nathan Myhre came up through North Dakota junior playdowns, and Brandon Myhre went on to play in the 2017 U.S. National Championships.
The club’s bonspiels have included the Northern Lights Open Bonspiel in December and the Lake Region Sorta Mixed in early March, which requires a mixed back end with one man and one woman at vice or skip.
