About Drayton Curling Club
Drayton Curling Club: North Dakota’s Longest-Running Curling Club
The Drayton Curling Club is the longest-running curling club in North Dakota, with roots reaching back to around the turn of the 20th century. Drayton sits in the Red River Valley in the state’s northeast corner, across the river from Minnesota and a short drive from the Canadian border, a region where curling records go back to the 1880s.
The club curls on dedicated ice with four sheets, a remarkable facility for a small farming town, and it is a member of USA Curling. Its endurance was cited in 2023 testimony before the North Dakota Legislature, the year lawmakers named curling the official state sport, as an example of how deeply the game is rooted in the state’s smaller communities.
