About Weston Curling Club
Weston Curling Club: A Founding Pillar of Broomstones
Weston Curling Club is one of the old Boston-area curling clubs tied to the suburban country-club tradition west of the city. In the 1960s the Weston, Wellesley and Brae Burn country club curlers all rented ice from The Country Club in Brookline. Wanting dedicated ice of their own, members of the Wellesley and Weston curling clubs built the Broomstones facility, which opened in 1968 on Curling Lane in Wayland, just over the town line from Weston.
Broomstones grew into one of New England’s main dedicated curling clubs, and most of today’s curlers there are Broomstones members. The Weston Curling Club still exists as an independent entity, alongside the Wellesley and Brae Burn clubs, with its curling centered on the Broomstones ice in Wayland.
