About Drumheller Curling Club
A Tribute to the Historic Drumheller Curling Club
While the Drumheller Curling Club in Alberta officially decided to dissolve and cease operations in February 2025, its rich 90-year history remains a legendary chapter in the province’s sports heritage. For decades, local curling enthusiasts played on Riverside Drive East, but structural issues forced the demolition of the historic facility in 2024.
Despite a fierce, multi-year battle by club president Debbie Walker and the executive to secure land leases, fundraising quotes, and municipal partnerships for a proposed new facility, the plans ultimately did not materialize. Though the club has ‘spun its last rocks,’ the legacy of community spirit, youth mentoring, and the joy of winter sportsmanship that defined Drumheller curling since the 1930s will forever be remembered and celebrated in the valley.
