About Gibsons Curling Club
Gibsons Curling Club: A Landmark of Community Spirit Since 1976
Situated blocks away from the shoreline on Gibsons Way, the Gibsons Curling Club is a beloved landmark on British Columbia’s Lower Sunshine Coast. Built through 1974-75 entirely by local volunteer sweat and donated resources, the non-profit club officially opened in 1976 and is famous for its massive, eye-catching exterior mural of a curler sliding out at passersby.
Operating on a high-quality four-sheet ice surface, the club serves over 200 active members, running popular evening mixed leagues, junior programs, and Special Olympics curling. The facility holds a unique spot in Canadian pop-culture, having served as a movie set for the 2002 Beachcombers movie. In the off-season, the dry arena remains highly active, hosting summer art schools and popular flea markets to support the rink’s operations.
