About Deer Trail Curling Club
Deer Trail Curling Club: Rejuvenation and Stress-Free Play
Originally constructed by Denison Mines in 1959 on Hillside Drive South as a wooden six-sheet rink, the Deer Trail Curling Club in Elliot Lake, Ontario, has a rich and colorful history. After facing the threat of permanent closure in 2021, the community-led athletic asset was purchased and redeveloped by the Elliot Lake Nuclear Shield (ELNOS) in 2022 to secure its future.
Reopening under professional sports management, the facility has transitioned to a stress-free play model similar to a golf course, where participants book ice times without the burden of volunteer maintenance committees. Featuring fully retrofitted ice equipment, a comfortable licensed lounge, and active leagues for all ages and skill levels, the club has successfully brought curling back to the heart of Elliot Lake.
