The 2026 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship runs from November 8 to 14, 2026 and brings Curling Canada’s national mixed four-player title to Prince Edward Island for the first time in three decades. In mixed curling the positions on each team alternate between men and women, and the championship has been held every year since 1964. Recent Canadian mixed champions have earned the right to wear the Maple Leaf at the following year’s World Mixed Curling Championship – a competition in which Canada leads all nations with three gold medals.
Fourteen teams take part: one from each of the ten provinces, the three territories and Northern Ontario. Each side earns its berth through its own provincial or territorial playdowns, so the full line-up takes shape over the autumn. As in 2025, the week combines pool play with a playoff round that settles the medals.
The defending champions are New Brunswick’s Team Rene Comeau – Rene Comeau, Jennifer Fenwick, Alex Robichaud and Katie Vandenborre – who beat Ontario’s Sam Mooibroek 6-5 in the 2025 final in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. It was New Brunswick’s first national mixed crown in 18 years, after earlier wins in 1994 and 2007. Alberta and Saskatchewan share the record for most titles, with 11 each.
Play takes place at the West Prince Curling Club in Mill River, Woodstock, a community-run facility that opened in April 2024 on the grounds of Mill River Resort in western P.E.I. The 21,000-square-foot building has four sheets of ice, energy-efficient equipment, a commercial kitchen and full wheelchair accessibility – a compact, club-level setting rather than a big arena, which keeps spectators close to the action.
The Island has a long history with this championship. Charlottetown staged it in 1973 and 1996, and Summerside in 1987, when Peter Gallant’s rink won P.E.I.’s first national mixed title on home ice. Robert Campbell later added two more Island titles, in 1989 and 2011. Travelling fans heading to Woodstock will find themselves in the rural west of the province, with the resort itself offering accommodation next to the club.
