The event and what is at stake

The 2027 CCAA/Curling Canada College Curling Championships decide the national men’s and women’s college titles. They run February 22–26, 2027 at the Calgary Curling Club. Curling Canada runs the event with the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), and it is staged alongside the U SPORTS university championships. This will be the eighth time the two national championships have been held together in partnership with Curling Canada. Prize money has not been published. In recent seasons, the college champions have earned a berth at the PointsBet Invitational. Any 2027 rewards for the winners will be announced.

Format and field

The 2027 field has not been announced. Recent editions give a guide. In 2024, the eight-team men’s and women’s fields played a single round-robin, with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals. The 2026 men’s event in Regina had eight teams from Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. The 2027 qualification route and format will be confirmed by Curling Canada.

The defending champions are the Humber Hawks among the men and the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens among the women. Humber, skipped by Noah Garner with Jacob Horgan at fourth, beat the NAIT Ooks in the 2026 final. Their titles span 2016, 2023, 2024 and 2026. Cassidy Blair’s rink, with Kaily Sparks, Sofia Bascello and Reegan Cox, won the women’s crown. In 2025, Jacob Jones of Mohawk College and Emily Bowles of PACWEST won the titles in Lethbridge.

Local interest centres on the host school. The SAIT Trojans, co-hosts alongside the University of Calgary, are chasing a second national title in each gender. Their women won in 1985 and their men in 1986.

Host city and venue

The Calgary Curling Club is a dedicated-ice facility with eight sheets. The club was founded in 1888 and has stood at its current site since 1953. A seating capacity has not been published. The club has plenty of national-level history. It hosted the Canadian Under-20 Championships in 1998 and 2011, the 2008 Canadian Mixed and the 2001 Canadian Senior Championships.

The city has an even bigger curling record. In recent years no Canadian city has hosted more national and international events, including the 2021 Calgary Bubble events, the 2022 Pan Continental Championships and the 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. This is the first time these championships are being played in Calgary. Calgary calls itself the Stampede City, and late February is deep winter, so fans should pack warm clothing.

Tickets

Ticket details for the college championship have not been released. The U SPORTS ticketing platform lists the Calgary curling dates among its championships. Pricing, any multi-day packages and on-sale dates are still to be announced.
