The 2027 U SPORTS/Curling Canada University Curling Championships bring the country’s leading men’s and women’s university teams to Calgary to decide the national titles. The week runs February 22–26, 2027, and is staged together with the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) curling championships, so both university and college champions will be crowned under one roof, with Curling Canada co-organising.
The University of Calgary is the U SPORTS host, while the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) leads on the CCAA side. It is the first time SAIT has hosted since the CCAA and Curling Canada began working together on the event, and the school has national pedigree of its own, with college women’s gold in 1985 and men’s gold in 1986.
The qualified teams and the detailed competition format for 2027 have not been announced yet. The titles on the line were last decided in 2026 at the Caledonian Curling Club in Regina. There, Memorial’s Sea-Hawks, skipped by Cailey Locke, beat McMaster 5–4 to win the university’s first U SPORTS women’s title, and the Calgary Dinos, skipped by Kenan Wipf, edged Carleton 7–6 in an extra end for the program’s first national curling championship. That gives the men’s competition an obvious storyline: the reigning champions come from the host university.
All games are played at the Calgary Curling Club in the Sunnyside neighbourhood, just north of the Bow River. The club traces its roots to 1888 and has moved and rebuilt over the decades, but its record as a championship venue is long. It staged the Canadian Under-20 Championships in 1998 and 2011, the 2001 Canadian Senior Championships and the 2008 Canadian Mixed Championship.
Curling Canada chief executive Nolan Thiessen pointed to Calgary’s deep passion for the sport and its proven ability to deliver top-calibre championships when the host was confirmed, and Tourism Calgary called the event a natural fit for the city. Fans planning a trip can turn to Tourism Calgary for accommodation and visitor information.
