The 46th Canadian women’s championship

The 2027 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the 46th edition of the Canadian women’s curling championship, takes place from February 12 to 21, 2027, at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The winners claim the national title, represent Canada at the 2027 World Women’s Championship and return to the 2028 Scotties as Team Canada. It is also the first Scotties of the new Olympic cycle, so several new line-ups will be making their national debut together.

Format and field

The Scotties field is built from the provincial and territorial champions, the defending Team Canada and wildcard places based on the Canadian Team Ranking Standings. At the 2026 edition in Mississauga, 18 teams were split into two pools of nine for the round robin, with the leading teams in each pool moving on to the playoffs. The 2027 field will take shape as the provincial and territorial playdowns finish in the weeks before the event.

Charlottetown already knows one team on the ice: Team Kerri Einarson returns as Team Canada after beating Manitoba’s Kaitlyn Lawes 4-3 in an extra end of the 2026 final. It was Einarson’s fifth Canadian title and her first since 2023, and her team went on to win silver at the 2026 World Women’s Championship in Calgary.

Host city and venue

Charlottetown becomes the first city to host the Scotties five times, moving past Regina and Calgary, which have four each. The event first came to P.E.I.’s capital in 1973 at the Charlottetown Curling Club, when Saskatchewan’s Vera Pezer won, followed by the Charlottetown Forum in 1984 (Manitoba’s Connie Laliberte). Eastlink Centre, which seats 3,718, then hosted in 1999, won by Nova Scotia’s Colleen Jones, and in 2011, when Saskatchewan’s Amber Holland took the title. The city’s mayor has promised that Charlottetown turns out for live curling in a big way.

The opening weekend falls on Valentine’s Day and Super Bowl Sunday, so the schedule has been adjusted to one draw on Friday night, three draws on Saturday and two on Sunday. For visitors, the compact island capital puts the arena, hotels and the historic waterfront close together.
