The USA Curling Junior National Championships decide the country’s top junior men’s and junior women’s teams. The winning teams advance to represent the United States at the World Junior Curling Championships. Qualifying for the worlds depends on the previous year’s finish, and if necessary the winners play for a berth at the World Junior-B Championships. The 2027 edition runs April 5-10, 2027. No prize purse has been announced.
The 2027 field is still being built. The two highest-finishing men’s teams and the two highest-finishing women’s teams from the 2026 nationals earn berths. To keep a berth, a team must have three of its four (or three of five) 2026 players eligible to play in 2027. If a team declines or is ineligible, its berth goes to the Four Seasons Junior Bonspiel.
The remaining places come through qualifying bonspiels. Three teams per gender come from the first three sanctioned qualifiers. The scheduled events are:
For 2026, one further berth per gender went to the team with the most points across the season’s qualifiers. The 2027 total and the full list of teams will be confirmed once qualifying ends.
The defending champions are Team Hebert and Team Pekowitz, who won their divisions in Bismarck, ND on April 4, 2026. Pekowitz’s lineup was Julia Pekowitz, Kalina Petrova, Lila Farwell and Alexa Pekowitz. Hebert’s rink was Caden Hebert, Jackson Bestland, Benji Paral and Jack Wendtland. Neither team is confirmed for 2027 yet, because the retained berths depend on roster eligibility.
The championships return to Broomstones Curling Club in Wayland, Massachusetts. USA Curling confirmed the booking in 2024 after a change to the 2025 World Junior dates forced Broomstones to give up that year’s event. The club was built in 1968 and has four sheets of ice and a chalet-style lounge with a bar and fireplace. It is the largest curling club in the Boston area, with more than 400 active curlers. A spectator capacity has not been published.
Broomstones has hosted national events before. They include the 2012 Mixed Doubles Championship, the 2013 Junior Championships and the 2023 Junior Nationals.
For travelling fans, Wayland sits in the Boston area. The region has a long curling tradition: the first curling game on purpose-built artificial ice was played at the Boston Arena on January 18, 1911.
Ticket sales and packages have not been announced and will be published once the schedule is set. The event is staged inside a members’ club, and USA Curling is already calling for volunteers to support the event behind the scenes.
Broadcast details have not been announced yet.
Championship week fills the rooms closest to the arena first. Compare prices for Apr 5 – Apr 11 while there is still a choice.
