Charleston Curling Club: Curling Comes to the Lowcountry
Charleston Curling Club has brought curling to South Carolina’s Lowcountry since 2017, making it one of only two curling clubs in the state. The club plays on arena ice at the Carolina Ice Palace in North Charleston, where it has ice time about twice a month and shares the rink with skaters and hockey players.
League play gives members regular competition, and the club’s regulars include a College of Charleston biochemistry professor whose former team found success in the Monday league. Learn to Curl sessions run throughout the year, and during the 2026 Winter Olympics the club added more instructors to open extra spots for newcomers.
Charleston also hosts a summer bonspiel. Its one-day event, Take Two, held its second edition in July 2019 with sixteen teams from clubs across the Southeast and one rink from New York, with spectators admitted free of charge.
