About Curl Troy
Curl Troy: Bringing Curling to the Miami Valley Since 2010
Curl Troy has been teaching curling to southwest Ohio since 2010. The nonprofit takes its name from Troy, where it played at the historic Hobart Arena, and over the years it has carried the sport to rinks across the Miami Valley, including downtown Dayton’s RiverScape MetroPark and the Chiller ice arena in Springfield, where curling lines were added to the ice for the club.
Today the club plays on arena ice at the Five Rivers MetroParks ice rink in Dayton, with around 40 members taking part in league play and playoffs, and it is working toward a dedicated indoor home of its own. President Brian Ressler describes curling as welcoming and adaptive, a sport for almost anyone.
Clinics are the club’s front door, held throughout the year in Dayton and Springfield, and seasonal leagues follow for those who catch the bug. Curl Troy has also staged a bonspiel attracting teams from beyond Ohio, with Olympian Debbie McCormick expected as a guest. In 2023 it joined the Grand National Curling Club.
