About Columbus Curling Club
Columbus Curling Club: Central Ohio’s Volunteer-Run Home of the Rock
The Columbus Curling Club has been central Ohio’s home for curling since its founding in 2004. The club curls on dedicated ice on Silver Drive on the city’s north side, between the Clintonville and North Linden neighborhoods, in a building where the rink is kept at about 40 degrees. It is a nonprofit and entirely volunteer-run, from the board down to the members who greet newcomers on the ice.
Growth has come in waves tied to the Winter Olympics. Membership climbed from 151 in the 2014-15 season to 208 in 2017-18, and the club passed 240 members after the PyeongChang Games, a year when 2018 Olympic champion Tyler George visited for two days of events. Learn-to-curl clinics are the front door, running on weekdays and weekends in busy years, alongside multiple leagues, corporate outings and private events.
The club’s resilience showed during the pandemic: when the 2021 season had to be canceled, many members donated their fees rather than asking for refunds, keeping the club solvent for the seasons that followed.
