About Steamboat Springs Curling Club

Steamboat Springs Curling Club: Year-Round Curling in Ski Town USA

Steamboat Springs Curling Club brings curling to the Yampa Valley, playing arena curling at Howelsen Ice Arena, the city-run rink at the foot of historic Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs. Founded in 2018, the club curls on five sheets laid out on the arena ice and is run entirely by volunteers, with members handling everything from making and maintaining the ice to equipment upkeep, coaching and organizing events.

In a mountain town built on skiing, curling has become a year-round pursuit. The club runs weekly leagues in four seasons, with registration opening each winter, spring, summer and fall, and the city’s own adult curling league at Howelsen keeps stones moving through the summer, with Sunday-evening games and an August playoff. Alongside league play, the club hosts Learn to Curl sessions for newcomers, youth and junior programs, and bonspiels that bring curlers to the Colorado high country.
