About North End Curling Club
North End Curling Club: Curling on Boston’s Waterfront Since 2017
North End Curling Club is downtown Boston’s curling club, playing on arena ice at Steriti Memorial Rink on Commercial Street, on the waterfront edge of the city’s historic North End. The club was founded by Greg and Erika Riehle, Pat and Terese O’Connell and Paul Aronofsky, and threw its first stones on November 12, 2017, with about 15 members and leased Scottish granite. It has since grown to more than 128 members with a waitlist.
The winter season runs from October to April at Steriti, with leagues on Sunday, Monday and Thursday nights. In summer, from May to September, the club moves to Veterans Memorial Rink in Somerville for Sunday and Monday leagues, making it one of the few Boston-area clubs curling year-round. Members help with the 15-minute ice setup, all equipment is provided, and delivery sticks and wheelchair access make the game open to curlers of all abilities.
Learn to Curl sessions introduce newcomers through the fall, and the calendar adds bonspiels, Olympic watch parties and corporate events. Games end with broomstacking, the winners buying the first round at Ward 8 in the North End or Aeronaut Brewing in Somerville.
