Lakes Region Curling Association: Sunday Curling in Wolfeboro

Lakes Region Curling Association brings curling to Wolfeboro, the town on the eastern shore of Lake Winnipesaukee. The association began play in 2015 and curls on arena ice at the town-owned Pop Whalen Ice & Arts Center on Pine Hill Road, where its Lakes Region Curling League shares the schedule with area hockey.

By 2018 the league had grown to about 50 players on nine teams, curling Sunday evenings through mid-March, and had paid off the $28,000 it borrowed to buy its own curling stones. The association welcomes men and women of all ages and abilities and provides all equipment, including delivery sticks and stabilizers for players who cannot slide from the hack. One member took up the game at 84 with two replaced knees. Each summer the group has held an information night to recruit new teams before the season.
