Canmore Curling Club: Curl Where the Olympians Gathered
Set in the breathtaking heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, the Canmore Curling Club operates out of a premier facility at 2000 8th Avenue, directly behind the Canmore Recreation Centre. Prior to 1988, the club operated a rustic three-sheet natural ice rink across the Bow Bridge, which was prone to mid-season melting.
To support the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, a brand-new facility was constructed on town land to serve as the Olympic Athlete’s Village. Following the games, the structure was transformed into a modern four-sheet curling rink, which officially opened on October 29, 1988. Shares facilities with the Canmore Golf Club, this beautiful venue offers a cozy restaurant, viewing lounge, and a perfect spot to enjoy craft Alberta beers after throwing stones.
