About Campbellton Curling Club
Campbellton Curling Club: Leading the Way in Ice Innovation
First founded on Union Street in 1894 by Hugh P. Marquis, the Campbellton Curling Club is one of New Brunswick’s most historic curling institutions. After a devastating fire destroyed the original Union Street building in February 1961, the community quickly rallied to build a new five-sheet facility on Ritchie Street using a converted Halifax airplane hangar, which opened in the fall of 1961.
In 2022, the club became a provincial pioneer in eco-friendly sports by installing digitally printed, reusable ‘Easy Sheet’ ice liners for all five sheets. Replacing traditional chemical-heavy ice paint and reducing volunteer installation times from 500 hours to just a day and a half, these innovative liners have drastically cut energy costs while providing exceptionally true, keen ice for their nightly leagues.
