About Huxley Curling Club
Huxley Curling Club: A Rich Legacy of Multi-Generational Pride
Formed in November 1949 when local volunteers constructed a crude two-sheet natural ice rink for just $4,575, the Huxley Curling Club is a historic winter sports landmark in Alberta. To support explosive local popularity, the community rallied again in 1980, felling trees and donating labor to open a brand-new, modern three-sheet rink in January 1981, adding artificial ice in 1986.
The club is famous for its cozy, nostalgic upper-level lounge—affectionately nicknamed the ‘Snake Pit’ by locals—which features large viewing windows overlooking the sheets. Huxley runs popular mixed leagues, junior programs, and has hosted the legendary annual Huxley All Nighter or Reuniter Bonspiel on the third weekend of January since 1982.
