About Granite Curling Club
The Granite Curling Club: The ‘St. Andrews’ of Western Canada
Established in 1880 by passionate early Scottish settlers who played their first games on the frozen Red River, the Granite Curling Club (affectionately known as the ‘Mother Club’) is the oldest active curling club in Western Canada. Operating out of its iconic, municipally designated Tudor-style clubhouse built in 1913 on Mostyn Place next to the Assiniboine River, the club remains a legendary landmark of Canadian sports history.
The club features a massive nine-sheet ice surface and has hosted numerous prestigious events, including the Canadian Gay Curling Championships under the Keystone Curling League. Having served as the home training base for multiple national and world champions, the Granite has cemented itself as a global showcase for sportsmanship. Its fully equipped restaurant and lounge are highly popular for corporate team-building events and private banquets.
