About Fort William Curling Club
Fort William Curling Club: Over 130 Years of Historic Championship Ice
Established in September 1891, the Fort William Curling Club on Vickers Street North in Thunder Bay, Ontario, is proudly recognized as one of the oldest and most historically significant curling clubs in Canada. The current modern facility features eight sheets of artificial ice, situated immediately adjacent to the Fort William Gardens arena.
The club has a legendary competitive pedigree, famously serving as the home base for world men’s champions Al Hackner and Rick Lang, and world women’s champions Heather Houston and Lorraine Lang. Having successfully hosted several national championships, including the 1960 Brier and the 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the club offers top-tier recreational and competitive leagues, junior instructions, and wheelchair curling.
