About Glengarry Curling Club
Glengarry Curling Club: A Landmark of Volunteer Grit
Established in 1952 in the friendly village of Maxville, Ontario, the Glengarry Curling Club is a proud symbol of Eastern Ontario sportsmanship. In its early days, dedicated volunteers secured two historic church sheds from St. Raphael’s for just $700, tore them down, and rebuilt them as the town’s new curling rink. A retired United Church minister even donated an old barn to serve as the original clubhouse.
Today, the modern three-sheet indoor facility provides exceptional playing conditions, supported by a $208,000 provincial infrastructure grant received in 1987. Operating seasonally from October through March, the club hosts a robust lineup of junior and adult leagues. It also partners with CurlOn for youth lotteries, making it a highly cherished community asset.
