About Sharks Ice Curling
Sharks Ice Curling: Rink-Run Curling in Downtown Oakland
Sharks Ice Curling is the curling program run by Sharks Ice, the rink operator of the San Jose Sharks organization, at the Oakland Ice Center on 18th Street in downtown Oakland. The program dates to 2018 and offers arena curling on the same ice used for public skating, figure skating and hockey, with Sharks Ice employing dedicated curling instructors to lead its sessions.
The Oakland Ice Center, opened in 1996, has deep curling roots: the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club curled there for years before moving to its own curling-only facility in East Oakland in 2022. The Sharks Ice program continues to offer curling downtown, giving East Bay newcomers an accessible place to throw their first stones.
