SoCal Curling Club: Two Decades of Curling in Simi Valley

SoCal Curling Club has been bringing curling to Southern California since 2006, playing arena curling at the Iceoplex in Simi Valley on West Easy Street, in the Ventura County suburbs northwest of Los Angeles. In a region better known for beaches than bonspiels, the club has built a family-friendly community open to complete beginners and seasoned curlers alike.

Newcomers can try the sport at introductory sessions with all equipment provided; warm clothes, gloves and rubber-soled shoes are all it takes. Players don’t need a ready-made team, as the club builds teams across skill levels and pairs experienced curlers with new ones. Games are typically held monthly, and curling continues year-round depending on ice availability at the rink. Spectating is free, and after the 2026 Winter Olympics the club was one of the Southern California spots where Olympic fans could try the sport for themselves.
