About Kakabeka Falls Curling Club

Kakabeka Falls Curling Club: Rebuilding and Growing for a Historic Milestone

First established in 1956 and operating on a beautifully prepared ice pad along Highway 11/17 in Kakabeka Falls, Ontario, the Kakabeka Falls Curling Club has been the heartbeat of local winter recreation for decades. The club serves a vast rural area outside Thunder Bay, hosting active junior, mixed, doubles, and senior leagues.

In August 2025, the club secured a massive $195,427 grant from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) to undergo major facility modernizations. Led by president Mike Desilets, these funds are being used for critical roof repairs and the installation of a state-of-the-art dehumidifier system to extend the ice-playing season, fully preparing the historic club for its upcoming 75th-anniversary celebration.
