Stevens Point Curling Club: A New Home at the Sentry Curling Center

Stevens Point Curling Club has been part of winter life in central Wisconsin since 1959. For decades the club curled on two sheets at the Stevens Point Country Club grounds, until it simply outgrew them. In 2020 it moved into the new Sentry Curling Center at 1515 Maple Drive in Plover, beside Lake Pacawa off Interstate 39, a $3.2 million project backed by $1.5 million from the Sentry Foundation and nearly $1 million from club members.

The new building doubled the ice to four dedicated sheets, with a large warm room and second-floor viewing, and leaves room for two more sheets in the future. It put the club on the national map right away: in April 2022 the Sentry Curling Center hosted the U.S. Junior Curling National Championships.

The ice serves club leagues, youth programs, local high schools, the UW-Stevens Point curling program and the Boys & Girls Club. Learn to Curl and Experience Curling sessions bring newcomers onto the ice, and the club’s junior teams travel to events such as the Wausau junior bonspiel.
