About French Creek Curling Club
French Creek Curling Club: From Meadville to Erie’s LECOM Sports Park
French Creek Curling Club takes its name from the river that winds through Crawford County. Founded in 2016 in Meadville, the volunteer-run club began with Learn to Curl nights and Wednesday-night league play at the Meadville Area Recreation Complex before expanding north to Erie.
Today the club curls at LECOM Sports Park on Oliver Road in Erie from October through April, on a full sheet of ice with 42-pound granite stones of the same kind used at the Winter Olympics. Its Experience Curling evenings combine instruction with a real game, and graduates can move on to competitive leagues and full membership.
President Adam Reese, who also represents the club in the Grand National Curling Club, says the membership spans every age and ability, from curlers in their seventies to a 16-year-old league player.
