Barriere Curling Club: Keeping the North Thompson Valley Active

Operating inside the Barriere Curling Rink in British Columbia, the Barriere Curling Club is a vital community hub managed by the volunteer-based Barriere Recreational Society. Featuring four sheets of ice with upgraded roll-out sheets funded by the Kamloops Sports Legacy Fund, the club offers exceptional playing conditions that start right after Thanksgiving.

With a focus on inclusivity, the facility features wheelchair-accessible ramps and actively supports stick curling delivery systems, helping seniors with limited mobility stay connected. The club runs open leagues, Friday night socials, and fun-spiels. During the summer, the facility operates a crucial community cooling center, offering games like bean toss and walking areas inside its naturally cool air.
