About Duluth Curling Club
Duluth Curling Club: World Championships on the Lake Superior Waterfront
The Duluth Curling Club has been part of life at the head of Lake Superior since 1891. Its first home was a tent on East Superior Street, which a blizzard destroyed; the club moved through several locations before building a purpose-built rink in 1897. Since 1976 it has curled at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center on Harbor Drive, overlooking the waterfront.
The DECC houses eight sheets of dedicated curling ice, and the club has the second-largest curling membership in the United States. Leagues cover men, women, mixed, juniors and instructional play, and members have competed at state, national, world and Olympic level, with two inducted into the Curling Hall of Fame.
Few American clubs have hosted as much: Duluth has staged two World Championships, the U.S. Olympic Trials, a U.S. Grand Prix televised on NBCSN in December 2016, and numerous national events. Annual bonspiels include the Duluth Cash Spiel.
