Jersey Pinelands Curling Club: Olympic-Style Curling in South Jersey

Jersey Pinelands Curling Club brings curling to South Jersey and the Philadelphia suburbs. The volunteer-run nonprofit was founded in 2014 and takes its name from the Pine Barrens. Interest after the 2018 Winter Olympics outgrew the ice time at its earlier home, and in fall 2019 the club moved to the Virtua Health Flyers Skate Zone on River Road in Pennsauken Township, where it lays out five sheets on the hockey surface. Olympic gold medalist Tyler George threw the ceremonial first stone at the opening on August 17, 2019.

Today the club has about 70 members and runs Intro to Curl sessions and weekly leagues for curlers from high-school age up; one August 2025 learn-to-curl class drew 34 newcomers. Members travel to compete, including the national “Five and Under” championship in Minneapolis and bonspiels in California, Florida, New York and Pennsylvania, and some have curled as far away as Iceland.

The club belongs to USA Curling, the Grand National Curling Club and the United States Women’s Curling Association.
