About Bucks County Curling Club
Bucks County Curling Club: A Hockey Rink Turned Curling Home
Bucks County Curling Club was founded in the summer of 2010 by Kevin Stayer and fellow curlers who had come from the Philadelphia Curling Club. Stayer and his wife bought an ice arena in Warminster, near Doylestown, and the club began on converted hockey ice with stones borrowed from Philadelphia. In 2015 the club took over Rink 2 at Bucks County Ice Sports as dedicated curling ice.
Today more than 110 members fill a busy weekly schedule of nine leagues, from Sunday early and late draws and a Sunday doubles league through evening leagues Monday to Friday, with new sessions starting every quarter. Learn to Curl classes bring in beginners, a juniors program develops young players, and the club has hosted a GNCC junior camp.
The bonspiel calendar includes the Big Buckin’ Spiel, the Golden Magnet Bonspiel, the Crooked Billet Bonspiel and the His & Hers Bonspiel. After games, curlers keep the tradition of “stacking the brooms,” with winners and losers buying each other a drink.
