Finger Lakes Curling Club: Saturday Stones on Cayuga’s East Shore

The Finger Lakes Curling Club brings curling to the Ithaca area, playing on arena ice at The Rink, the Community Recreation Center on East Shore Drive in Lansing. The non-profit club grew out of informal learn-to-curl sessions at the rink and was established in 2017; most of its members had never curled before joining, and they come from every walk of life.

The club runs two ten-week seasons each year, fall and winter, with games on Saturdays, plus weekday daytime curling. Learn-to-curl clinics are held several times a season: two-hour sessions with an off-ice introduction, on-ice instruction and a practice game, with instructors and equipment provided. The club also hosts its own Ice Breaker Bonspiel.

Finger Lakes curlers travel to compete as well, and the club has won the country club cup at the Mitchell Bonspiel in Utica, a tournament dating back to 1885.
